Mom in River Oaks is seeking an organized, communicative, fun-loving, and proactive Family Assistant partner. Role will include tidying (dishwasher/dishes, counters, picking up common areas; family has a housekeeper for deep cleaning), organizing, and maintaining supplies and inventory. Candidate will encourage the boys’ independence and contributions with clear daily and weekly habits, chores (as they are able; older son’s studies are quite challenging, so his time will be limited), rewards and rules. Family Assistant will help with errands (grocery shopping, other shopping, post office, car maintenance, etc.) and providing transportation to/from school, appointments and activities. An excellent driving record and a reliable vehicle are required. Candidate will also follow recipes to prepare simple, healthy meals for the boys (one is vegetarian) and creativity is encouraged.
Family Assistant will establish a routine and help keep the children on an organized schedule, have a can-do attitude, and be a mature, positive role model and mentor for the boys. Mom values respect, communication, and honesty, so it will be important for the candidate to exhibit those qualities. Experience, education and/or knowledge related to ADHD is a plus, as both boys have been diagnosed. Candidate should be approachable and easy to talk with, allowing for the boys to feel comfortable bonding and opening up over time. Family Assistant should have an excellent work ethic, problem solving skills (resourcefulness), a passion and sensitivity for helping pre-teens and teens thrive, and be extremely punctual and reliable. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, encouraging, college educated, intellectually stimulating, and service-oriented to do whatever it takes to help the home run smoothly. Availability for occasional overnights is a plus. Both children are allergic to cats and dogs (unless they are low shedding dogs). Both have very bad environmental allergies, and the younger son is allergic to peanuts.
NOTE: Candidates must be following all procedures advised by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) for Coronavirus exposure prevention outside of their work hours (masks, hand washing, limiting contact/group sizes, social distancing, etc.). Initial interviews will be conducted virtually using Facetime, Zoom, etc.
